Job Description for an “Account Manager”

Aurora Biomed is focused on developing and customizing instrumentation and methods for laboratory automation and HTS of ion channels.  Our VERSA Automation Liquid Handling systems are designed for applications such as cell-based and solution-based assays, automatic serial dilution, array printing, peptide synthesis and IC50 preparation.  Our Ion Channel Reader technology is used for HTS of potassium, sodium, and chloride channels, as well as ion channel transporters.  Ion channels are targets for the treatment of diseases such as CNS, cardiovascular, pain and immune disorders.

Our sales department is looking for an Account Manager to achieve a territory sales plan by maintaining existing business, developing incremental business in existing accounts, and conducting cold calls to develop new accounts.
Role:

  • Direct sales to new and existing accounts in your own territory.
  • Develop strategies, with assistance from Management, to drive the business in your own territory
  • Maintain and increase current customer database in your own territory
  • Call on various management levels within assigned accounts which influence purchasing decisions.
  • Develop presentations and customer proposals for supply contracts and preferred vendor agreements with assistance from Management.
  • Support the assay development work of the lab.
  • Participate in sales training programs as presented by the company to develop appropriate selling skills consistent with the company philosophy, policies and procedures.
  • Travel worldwide to participate/host in conferences, customer visits, seminars and training programs.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a BSc degree in Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field; or the equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Preferably with knowledge of membrane proteins, specifically, ion channels and transporters
  • Preferably with knowledge of liquid handling workstations
  • Laboratory experience an asset,
  • Result-driven individual with upbeat personality
  • Willing to travel and represent the company at conferences and onsite visits on short notice
  • Industry and sales experience (with big ticket items) is preferred
  • Cold calling experience and account maintenance is preferred
  • Fluency in Japanese is an asset
