VERSA Automated Solid Phase Extraction systems (also known as automated SPE systems) fully automate SPE workflows from cartridge conditioning to sample derivatization. With the combination of the ReagentDrop™ dispenser, Heater-Shaker, Gripper, and Nitrogen Dryer, VERSA automated solid-phase extraction (SPE) systems act to produce contamination-free sample pre-processing and trace analyte enrichment before performing sample analysis by a chromatography-based platform (HPLC, GCMS, HPLC-MS, etc).

The VERSA line of automated SPE systems is highly scalable for different throughputs and budgets. From the compact VERSA 10 to the highly customizable VERSA HT (VERSA-2000), they can boost productivity in applications ranging from metabolomics, forensics, environmental samples, pharmaceutical compound analysis (ADME), and food safety.

Dr. Thiangthum and Dr. Tanunkat from Bureau of Drug and Narcotic of Thailand use the VERSA 1100 automated Solid Phase Extraction system to quantify amphetamine and methamphetamine in drug users. They test more than 100,000 urine samples with VERSA automated SPE workstation each year.

VERSA HT Application by CDPH

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) requested Aurora for a customized VERSA HT to automate a cannabis metabolite extraction workflow which includes sample pre-treatment, protein precipitation, solid-phase extraction, evaporation, and reconstitution. Aurora SPE system has a few unique software and hardware feature which can help with automation protocols including unique customizable software, ultrasonic stations, nitrogen dryers, external pressure vacuum, etc. VERSA SPE workstation can automate online reconstitution, and the nitrogen dryer can be programmed to gradually lower down to increase the recovery rate of the extraction.
